Nicole Katherine has been creating vintage inspired apparel, reminiscent of the 1940's and 1950's, for over 5 years and celebrating the spirit of the Pinup Girl in every lady. Originally known as "Betty Buccaneer Clothing" this line of apparel is separate from the other clothing companies in the kustom kulture niche market. Nicole Katherine creates traditional looks, using high quality fabric and the highest standards in craftsmanship.
Nicole Katherine's love of fashion began at a very early age when she learned the "ancient" family tradition of sewing. Extremely unhappy with the apparel that I saw available in stores, she began purchasing patterns and altering them, using creative fabrics to complete the looks she wanted.
After an early graduation from high school she had a brief stint at the Art Institute of Seattle. It was there that she learned more advanced sewing skills and pattern drafting. However, her youthful independence controlled her curious mind and she found herself desiring to explore other interests and leave fashion school behind.
A few years later she took up a serious interest in design after creating Irish Dance dresses for competitions and a new love for designing and sewing was born. Nicole Katherine began creating her own clothing again by combining her passion for classic films, vintage clothing, punk and rockabilly. From there a small line developed under the name of "Betty Buccaneer." and became available on Ebay. Shortly after, Nicole built a full website to list her custom pieces that were stirring up quite the demand.
After several years the line has evolved. After completing a BA, Nicole Katherine eventually returned to fashion school for Apparel Manufacturing Management at FIDM in Los Angeles and earned her Professional Designation. She's had the fortunate experience of working with many wonderful people. This includes an apprenticeship with Annamarie Von Foley of Revamp Vintage; designing wardrobe for Pin-Ups Hair Design's promotional shoots; costuming and wardrobing for film (including a movie pilot for "Light Masters" by Director Kelly Rigg and featuring Seth Green) and working with many other gifted professionals.
"I put my heart and soul into everything I create and take joy in seeing my creations beautifully adorning each one of my customers."
